Description

Noi Na, or custard apple, is a fruit with bumpy green skin and creamy white flesh dotted with black seeds. Its taste is intensely sweet, reminiscent of custard with notes of vanilla and cinnamon. The fruit is eaten fresh, split in half and eaten with a spoon. It is rich in vitamins C and B6, potassium and fiber. The main season is June to September.

History & Origin

Noi Na is native to tropical Americas and was introduced to Thailand several centuries ago. It is grown throughout the country, particularly in northern and central provinces. The Thai name "Noi Na" refers to the resemblance of the fruit skin to the scales of a naga (mythical serpent).
