Unlike Cha Yen (orange milk tea), Cha Dum Yen is black and transparent, with a more pronounced tea flavor. It is less sweet and more refreshing, perfect for those who prefer a lighter drink. It is an ubiquitous street drink, sold in plastic bags or cups.

History & Origin

Black tea was introduced to Thailand by Chinese merchants and became a daily drink. The iced version is an adaptation to the tropical climate. Cha Dum Yen is the preferred drink of those who find Cha Yen too sweet or too rich.
